This workshop is founded on an acknowledgement and re-examination of the heritage of the post Judson revolution that laid the ground for our current aesthetic and approaches to working – a legacy that we now often take for granted. How have we moved on from that time? What have we lost? What inspires our practice now? What limits have we inadvertently assumed? Where might we need to reawaken to the sensibilities and principles of that time? We will begin with these questions. The workshop will offer an environment for shared creative experiences. As a main theme it will address the question: How can we become more imaginatively awake in our creative work and responsive to the world about us? We shall begin in the body, settling into a deeper awareness of the present moment – the world of our sensations and feelings. Exploring through the body, through objects, places, words and stories, we shall work to discover a poetic language of metaphor that is unique and particular to the experience of each participant – a language that connects our making to the wider field of our lives.
